Special Insulators for Twisted Pair Distribution

By using the special forms of insulators made by the Univeral Specialty Company, 118 South Seventh St., Terre Haute, Ind., it is possible to make very neat attachments, which possess numerous practical advantages, at low cost. The form of these insulators is very clearly shown in the accompanying illustration.

A large variety of locations in the plants in which these insulators are being installed show their adaptability to many purposes. For example, they can be used for taking off wires directly from the cable terminal, being attached to the pole, one by one, at the same time the drop wires are led out to the substation. They furnish a very convenient means of taking off substation loops directly from a cross arm, and are not only employed for fastening wires at the point nearest the entrance to the house, but form the sole support necessary for holding weatherproof wire where it runs along brick or wooden walls. They can be used either with twisted paired or single wire in ways which give equally good satisfaction.
