HAS WORKED FOR THE SAME FAMILY FOR FIFTY YEARS For half a century John Butler, 70 years old, living at 1022 East Willard street, has been in the employ of the Hemingray family, the glass manufacturers. Butler, despite his advanced years, is said to be not only the oldest, but one of the best glass pressers in the country. He holds a good position in the factory of the Hemingray Glass company today, and some of the younger men find it difficult to keep up with him. Butler started with the Hemingray's fifty years ago, under the employe of Robert Hemingray, father of Ralph Hemingray, present owner of the Muncie factory. He continued to work under the same employer and has witnessed the passing of one generation. He has been employed at the factory on Macedonia avenue since it started many years ago. Mr. Butler's record of being in the empoly [sic] employ of one firm for a period of fifty years is not ylikely [sic] likely to be challenged by many persons. |
