NEGRO HIT WITH HAMMER

MUNCIE, Ind., Nov. 14 — Because Lester Speaker, 18, a negro, employed in the Hemingray Glass Factory, drank from a water cup intended for the use of white employes, it is alleged, Jos. Menard struck him over the head with a hammer. Speaker is reported to be dying with a fractured skull and Menard is under arrest.
