BUILDING
ANOTHER
FURNACE
Hemingray Glass Works
Being Enlarged to Meet
Demand for Colored Ware.
Ground was broken yesterday afternoon for what will be one of the most extensive and complete colored glass-making furnace in this part of the country and it will prove a valuable addition to the already large plant owned by Ralph Hemingray. The building will follow the completion of the foundation for the new structure, which is being built adjoining the main factory.
For some time Mr. Hemingray has been unable to supply the demand for his product in colored, as well as the plain glass, and the new furnace has been planned for the purpose of meeting this.
A large force of workmen will be employed, since three shifts of men will be used. Two of the furnaces in the main factory are now in operation and it is thought that the two remaining will be started next week. One of the furnaces has been in operation almost the entire summer, first one crew of men working and then another, during the heated term.
The capacity of the factory will be enlarged when the new furnace is completed, and the number of employes will be greatly increased as well.
