MANUFACTURERS OF PURE AND

NEUTRAL SOLUTIONS OF SOLUBLE OR

WATER GLASS, SILICATES

OF POTASH AND

SODA.

We will continually have on hand a large stock of the above preparations, consisting of —

     Pure Neutral Silicate of Potassa;

     "    "    "    of Soda;

Double Silicate of Potasaa and and Soda, Pure Fixation Water Glass for Stereochromic Paintings, put up in pint, half gallon and gallon bottles, and in cans, kegs or barrels, of any required quantity.

EXTRA CONCENTRATED WATER GLASS,

the best mineral cement in existence for Glass, Porcelain, Stone-Ware, &c., &c., put up in one ounce and one pound bottles, with directions for use.

Pure precipitated Silicates of Potassa and Soda, and of Double Silicates of the same alkalies, put up in half pound to one pound bottles, with directions for use.

The difference between the Silicates of Potassa and of Soda is very slight. Concentrated solutions of Silicate of Potassa dry and harden quicker, and are not so much subject to efflorescence as the Silicate of Soda — a great advantage in warm and humid countries. But the concentrated solutions of Silicates of Soda, being more liquid, penetrate deeper in the porous substance, and the efflorescence is only a proof that the silification is going on more rapidly than with the Silicate of Potassa.

We recommend to use the Silicate of Soda for the first coats, and the Silicate of Potassa only for the last coat.

The Double Silicate of Potassa and Soda is the best. It being bibasic combination with silicic acid, for which this acid has more affinity than for either Potassa or Soda alone. This solution we recommend especially to our Furniture manufacturers, for supplying the place of animal glue, which has to be boiled and prepared for use, while our mineral glue is always ready, and will adhere better when properly used.

We recommend to impregnate first the surface of the wood to be glued with a mixture of equal parts of Water Glass and water, let it get quite dry, then use the Water Glass alone, and compress in the same manner as done for animal glue.

To our Fixation Water Glass we call the special attention of artists, &c., as it is used for Stereochromic Paintings, in lieu of Fresco, the former being more shining and more durable than any Fresco paintings in existence. Von Koulback has executed many Stereochromic paintings in Berlin, that have elicited universal admiration.

E. GRASSELLI, at the Cincinnati Chemical Laboratory, will be glad to give every information to artists as to the best manner to prepare plastered walls previous to the application of the mineral colors.

Sold at the store of GRAY, HEMINGRAY & BROS., ALLEN & CO., and at the Cincinnati Chemical Laboratory.

Orders solicited, and a liberal discount allowed to wholesale purchasers.
