President Munn and other officers of the California Glass Insulator company spent some time yesterday afternoon in a conference with P. E. Hatch, Chairman C. J. Curtis of the Chamber of Commerce harbor committee and others, and the local men state today that they feel hopeful that the glass works can be retained as a Long Beach industry instead of being removed to Torrance. The corporation is desirous of increasing its working capital, in which local men may be of assistance, and also wishes help in other ways, one of which is protection from a repetition of the heavy loss incurred last winter by reason of the overflow of water in the vicinity of its plant. These matters will be taken up again in a few days, following the return of a local man who is out of town for the rest of this week.
