AND "Y" TEAMS

ARE DEFEATED


The Ball Brothers team and the Y. M. C. A. both drew blanks in two hard fought games at the North Walnut street and McCulloch park diamonds Saturday afternoon when the first bowed in defeat to the Republic Iron and Steel company nine and the latter succumbed to the onslaught of the Ontario Silver Plate team. The glass makers seemed unable to connect with the ball and obtained only three hits from the Republic pitcher, Belnap. The defeat of the Y. M. C. A. brought them to a tie with the Hemingray squad for first palce [sic] place in the standings of the Industrial league.

Twenty hits were the feature of the game between the Hemingray men and the Muncie Tent and Awning nine when the former with the score of clouts to their favor and aided by the errors of the Tent and Awning men grabbed off 26 runs to the con­testants five. The victors obtained a run in every inning but the fifth. This victory tied the Hemingray men with the Y. M. C. A., each having a per­centage of .800.
