PROFESSOR STILL TO TEST
HIGH VOLTAGE INSULATORS.
Prof. Alfred Still, of the school of Electrical Engineering is carrying out an elaborate series of tests for the Hemingway [sic] Hemingray Glass Co., of Muncie, on the complete line of glass insulators for overhead electric lines manufactured by this company. They include high voltage, flash-over tests, both with dry and wet insulators. Tests will also be made with voltages sufficiently high to break the glass of the insulator, the special large oil tank in the high voltage testing laboratory being used for this purpose. The object of these tests is to obtain data which will be of great value in determining the best lines on which new types of glass insulators should be designed.
