HIT BY LIGHTNING

Firemen from stations No. 1, 2 and 4 yesterday afternoon responded to an alarm from the Hemingray Glass Company when a bolt of lightning hit one of the large transformers. The blaze, however, was extinguished by employes of the plant.

The transformer was put out of working order and plant No. 1 was closed until the first of the week. The loss was estimated at [dollar:$200] or [dollar:$300] by officials of the factory yesterday.

The insulation on many of the wires leading from the transformer was burned off and on many of the others was badly damaged.
