FAIRMOUNT
Fairmount, March 1 — The financial committee appointed to raise funds in order that the town might carry out their part of the contract with the Snyder Preserve company has been hard at work today and are meeting with splendid success. They hope to be able to send word to the firm this evening or in the morning that all conditions have been met and that the company can proceed with the erection of their plant here, which will be located on the site of the old King City glass factory, just east of the Big Four railroad and between Fourth and Sixth streets. James F. Life, R. A. Morris, S. B. Hill, Harvey Fellows, J. A. Winslow, D. G. Lewis and H. D. Wood have been authorized by the Snyder people to sign their name in making the individual contracts with the farmers for the growing of tomatoes this year. Forms have been prepared and this work will proceed at once. Mrs. Jane Ray and Mrs. Louisa Crawford who have been at the State Soldiers’ Home at Lafayette since early in the fall, have returned to their homes in this city. A copy of the Wichita, Kansas, Eagle received here recently gives an account of an accident in which Warren Cook, a former Fairmount man, lost his right arm while employed in a laundry in that city. The member was caught in the machinery and broken and twisted to such an extant that it was necessary to amputate it near the shoulder. Clio Rush and wife have moved to the Johnson farm near Hackleman, John Morrish and wife have moved to the John Flanagan farm just west of town, while Zeb Rush and family have moved to the farm which they recently purchased near the North Grove school house, all of these changes being made during the week, and Peter Kimes and wife expect to move in the near future to the farm known as the J. H. Wright farm, northeast of town, recently acquired by them, in the near future. |
