Income Returns for the City of Covington
We publish below the income returns for the City of Covington, as returned to the Collector of Internal Revenue, upon the annual list. It should be borne in mind that the figures this year, owing to changes in the law, do not, in every case, fully show the incomes. Last year, the exemption was [dollar:$500]. This year it is [dollar:$1000]. Besides, all dividends, on stocks and bonds, which were returned in 1865, are deducted this year. This change in the law makes the incomes of some of our rich men, appear to be quite small.
