Returns of Dealers' Sales, First District, for
1867-1868.
The following is the amount of gross sales by dealers in the First District for which Government tax was paid during the year ending May 1, 1868. The amount of sales exempted from pro rata taxation and covered by special tax is included.
It must be borne in mind, in consulting this list, that dealers manufacturing and selling goods thus made at the place of manufacture, do not return such sales in this list. Manufacturers of clothing and rectifiers of whiskey are instances in point.
