Arrangements for a Combined Trades Union
Picnic Next June.
The Combined Trades Union Entertainment Committee held a meeting yesterday at Arbeiter Hall, President D. H. Drake in the chair.
A committee of three, consisting of Messrs. Gassman, Merkel and Drake, was appointed to fix date and location for a picnic some time early in June.
The Trustees reported that they had resolved to postpone the resolutions condemning R. W. Tilney, the defaulting treasurer, because he had agreed to pay [dollar:$5] a week until the whole amount, [dollar:$355.35], was paid up. Approved.

The deficiency of the late defaulting Treasurer has nearly been covered by loans from the several unions. The balance yet due amounts to about [dollar:$20].
A resolution of sympathy was passed for the Covington glass bottle blowers, who are on lockout on account of imported workmen from Belgium, who are employed at cheaper rates. There are eleven of these ‘"scabs" at work over there.
The glass-blowers will give a ball on the 14th of February, at Mullins' Hall, Covington and every member of the committee is requested to purchase a ticket to help them out.
Tickets for the lecture by Richard Trevelick, at Tivoli Hall on the 13th inst, on "Labor and Its Interests," were distributed.
Carpenters' Union No. 2 will hold an open meeting for all carpenters next Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at Workmen’s Hall. Good speakers from the Union will address the meeting.
