DERRY PLANT IS COMING
UP TO ALL EXPECTATIONS
Derry, Pa., Dec. 29.—It is very probable that the residents of this vicinity do not have any conception of the enlarging business at the High Tension Insulator plant which is now at work, in their midst, turning out an insulator which is pronounced the best of its kind made for high tension electrical work. Employees are being taken on every day, and the output of insulators is increasing every week.
With the patents held by this company, it can undersell almost any insulator on the market, due to the fact that a new hand, with but little experience. can operate one of the machines and turn out perfect insulators faster and, necessarily cheaper, than can be done with any other process.
Mr. Dyke. the general manager of the company, is getting ready to ship two carloads of insulators, within the next few days, to Spokane, Wash. His company is now busily engaged in filling orders from Vancouver, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and even South America. A single order which will fill ten cars is expected to be landed this week, the only thing holding back the placing of the order being some slight figuring on freight rates.
It appears that the insulators turned out at the Derry plant are admirably fitted for heavy mine and contracting work, and electrical engineers all over the continent are awakening to the fact that the new insulators turned out at the Derry factory will soon displace those of other makes, both because of their superiority, and cheapness. Many of the orders now on the books of the company are from firms installing heavy mine and electrical machinery, and the orders were obtained by the new company solely on the merit of the insulators. It is confidently expected, by the persons at the head of the company, that many more hands will soon have to be employed to take care of the orders which are constantly being received.
