PITTSBURG HIGH VOLTAGE INSULATOR
PICNIC TO BE BIG AFFAIR
Derry, July 19 Arangements [sic] Arrangements have practically been completed for the annual picnic of the Westinghouse High Voltage Insulator Company's picnic, to be held at Idlewild, Saturday, July 22. The program prepared for the picnic includes an elaborate list of sporting events and entertainment.
The Westinghouse Band from the Westinghouse works in the Pittsburgh district, will be on hand, bringing a noted soloist along. For dancing, the Westinghouse dance orchestra will play from 1 to 5 in the afternoon and from 9 to 10 in the evening.
In the morning there will be races of all sorts for everybody. A tug of war will also be among the list of sport events. In the afternoon the Insulator team will play the Vanadium Steel team. Both teams play a high grade brand of baseball and are evenly matched.
In case trains are not available, the Westinghouse people have promised to have plenty of trucks on hand in order to make certain that everybody will be able to get back in good time Saturday night.
The program for the races will be as follows:
1 50 yard race for boys under 12 years of age. First prize, pair Keds; second prize, penknife.
2 Shoe race for girls under 12 years of age. First prize, pair Keds; second prize. Brownie vest pocket camera
3 Running backward race (Man employes). First prize, $5.00 hat; second prize. Eversharp pencil.
4 Ball and paddle race for girl employes, and employes' wives and daughters. First prize, Boston bag; second prize, sweater.
5 50 yard cracker race for girl employes. First prise. silk hose; second prize, silk parasol.
6 Nail driving contest for employes' wives. First prize, electric iron; second prize, 3 yards table linen.
7 Weiner eating contest for children under 12 years First boy, $1.00; first girl. $1.00.
8 Pipe race, for male employes First prize. fountain pen; second prize. French brier pipe.
9 Balloon race for girls. First prize, 2 lb box candy; second prize, 1 lb box candy.
1:00 or 1:10 p m Girls ball game between two shop teams.
2:15 or 2:30 p. m. Tug of war between shop teams.
3:00 p. m. Ball game. First prize silk hose; second prize, cigars.
