BUSINESS OF OUR MERCHANTS
For the Year Ending the Day Preceding the
Second Monday of April, 1881.
Arranged Alphabetically by Wards.
We give below the monthly average value of all goods und merchandise (upon a value of $1,000 and upward) owned or held by our merchants during the year ending the day preceding the second Monday of April, 1881, as taken from the original returns on file in the County Auditor’s office.
It is a fair index of the mercantile business done in Cincinnati during the past year, and represents our city in a fair condition of solidity.
It will be gratifying to our tax-payers to know that the rate of taxation in the city this year (twenty-two mills and two-tenths) is nearly nine mills less than it was last year.
