The first section of the Continental Telegraph has reached us. We gladly hail this extension of rapid communication. In our isolated situation it is doubly welcome and important to us. We earnestly hope and believe, before the close of the coming Congress, we shall receive, through the same medium, the good tidings of action taken to give us a Territorial government, which we so much need, not only for the development of the resources of our beautiful valley, but also for the security of the lives and prosperity of our settlers. All hail to the grand enterprise which has scaled the snowcapped summit of Sierra Nevada, and brought the mountains into connection with the sea. F.A. Bee.
