Miss Sue Hemingray — Decided, to Give Up
Studies for Sweetheart — Tragedy’s
Shadow Over Marriage.
Romance favors the coming marriage of Miss Sue Ashley Hemingray, 19, formerly of Covington, now of Muncie, Ind., to Lewis Thompson, a wealthy young broker of New Orleans. Miss Hemingray is well known in Cincinnati, and in Covington is a social favorite. She is a daughter of the late Robert Hemingray, owner of the Hemingray Glassworks. The family resided in Covington until two years ago, when the main plant of the Hemingray Glassworks was moved to Muncie, Ind. Miss Hemingray is a niece of Daniel Hemingray, Secretary and Treasurer of the Hemingray Glassworks, of Covington, and a niece of Bradford Shinkle, a Covington capitalist. Her brother is Robin Hemingray, a young race-horse man, who figured in the recent suicide at San Francisco of Carlotta Campiglio, the beautiful Cincinnati girl, who thought Hemingray no longer loved her.
LOVE HER TEACHER
While visiting her brother in San Francisco last year Miss Hemingray met Lewis Thompson, who is associated with Robin Hemingray in the ownership of several race-horses, and a mild flirtation ripened into love. Miss Hemingray, who was attending boarding school, refused to go back to her books saying henceforth love would be her only teacher. Her mother objected strongly to the girl's marriage, but eventually relented, and the engagement was announced.
Letters received in Covington from the pretty bride-elect state that she is coming to Cincinnati to purchase her trousseau. The wedding, which takes place in April, will be a quiet affair, owing to the delicate health of Mrs. Hemingray, who has never recovered from the shock of her son's escapade with Carlotta Campiglio.
