MUNCIE MEN LEASE MUCH

TERRITORY IN WAYNE CO.

If There Is Oil in Swampy Land H.

O. Patch and R. G. Hemingray

Will Strike it Lucky.

If there is oil in Wayne county two Muncie men will reap a handsome profit for they now hold leases on 1161 acres of land in that county. The leases are held by R. G. Hemingray and H. O. Patch, of this city. The territory included in the leases covers a swampy acreage along the east pike from Cambridge City to Hagerstown, in Jackson and Jefferson townships. It has for a long time been regarded as a promising gas or oil field. The terms of the leases are that for each well driven, the land owners shall receive $50 and in the event a well producing more than 20 barrels per day is found, they shall also have one-sixth of the receipts. An annual rental of 50 rents per acre is to be paid for the option. Wells must be driven within 90 days after the filing of the leases 10 make the options legal.
