MANUFACTURER TO STOP

DEPREDATIONS OF BOYS

Four Charges Were Filed Against

Victor Barnes, Whose Saloon the

Boys Frequented.

Four charges of violations of the saloon and billlard room laws, in admitting minors, have been filed against Victor Barnes, who operates a saloon and billiard room at Macedonia avenue and Ninth street, by Ralph Hemingray, the glass manufacturer. Mr. Hemingray, by reason of depredations committed in his glass plant by drunken persons, is determined to strike at the root of the difficulty, as he believes, and stop the practice of Barnes of selling liquors to minors.

Recently, it is claimed, a number of boys have, during the night, made a practice of throwing stones through the open doors and windows of the glass factory at the workmen, several of whom have been struck. The matter has been reported to the police and investigation revealed the fact that the boys were frequenters Of Barnes’s place. A number were summoned yesterday morning to answer questions and the four affidavits filed by the glass manufacturer resulted. The papers will be served today.
