Owens-Illinois Executive Changes

Follow Owens-Corning Formation

WITH the resignation of several executives from the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. to become part of the management of the new Owens-Corning Fibreglas Corp., changes have been made in the executive personnel of the former company.

To take the place of Harold Boeschenstein, who resigned as vice president and general manager, to become president of the Owens-Corning Company, J. P. Levis has been named as vice president and general manager of the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. Mr. Levis is the former head of the Owens-Illinois Pacific Coast Co. and recently was named a director of the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. His early training was with the Illinois Glass Co.

In place of the Industrial and Structural Products Division, the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. has instituted the Insulux Products Division. W. P. Zimmerman, general manager of the former division, has gone to the Owens-Corning Fibreglas Corp. as vice president in charge of manufacturing and sales. Stanley J. McGiveran has been named general manager of the new Insulux Products Division which will handle structural building blocks and Hemingray insulators. Hugh Paul has been named sales manager of this division. Carl H. Smith will continue in charge of the Muncie, Ind., plant with M. K. Holmes continuing in charge of Hemingray developments at Muncie.

Replacing J. P. Levis in the Owens-Illinois Pacific Coast Co., H. S. Wade has been named vice president and general manager. R. B. Haworth has become general factories, manager for the West coast subsidiary.

The new vice president and general manager, J. P. Levis, is the son of the late Frank Levis, one of a group of six brothers who were active in the Illinois company prior to its merger with the Owens Bottle Co. He is a cousin of William E. Levis, president of Owens-Illinois. Prior to going to the Pacific Coast subsidiary, Mr. Levis was manager of the plant at Alton, his birthplace. Mr. Levis, his wife and three children are residing in the Ottawa Hills district near Toledo.
