Minot Holmes, Retired

Industrialist Dies at 78

Minot K. Holmes, 78, 805 Wayne St., prominent retired business­man, died unexpectedly early Wednesday afternoon on the parking lot at High and Jackson streets, apparently as the result of a heart attack. He was born in Plymouth, Mass., and moved to Muncie in 1901 to become as­sociated with Hemingray Glass Co., now Owens-Illinois. He retired from Owens-Illinois about 1952.

Mr. Holmes was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and Elks Lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Janet Casey and a son, Elliot Holmes, both of Muncie, and four grandchildren, Sara Holmes and Philip Casey, both students at Ball State, Randy Casey, U.S. Peace Corps, Tanzania, East Af­rica, and Rick Casey, a student at Purdue. His wife, Sarah. died here in 1958.

Services will be held at Meeks Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. C. Russell Moodey, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Elm Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call at the mor­tuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and prior to the services Friday.
