A BRIGHT OUTLOOK.
Factories Getting Ready to Start at
Fairmount.
The business outlook at Fairmount is perhaps more encouraging today than it has been since a number of the town’s best institutions were forced to to the wall by the financial panic. Two factories will start within the next few days, giving employment to nearly two hundred idle people, a great many of whom have been out of work for more than twelve months. The Big Four window glass factory will start tomorrow morning with a force of 100 men. This factory is the only one which was able to furnish steady employment to its men during the hard times. The officers of the concern are: F. B. Zeigler, president; Harry Gable, secretary and treasurer; A. Reed, manager.
The Fairmount glass works, Winslow & Rau's factory, will be able to start about the 15th of this month. This factory has been idle since one year ago last July, during which time a great many of its employes have earned a scant living by doing odd jobs.
The King City glass works have closed down to make extensive repairs on furnaces and building. As soon as these repairs are made work will be resumed.
