Complying With the Law.
The factories of the Quaker City last Saturday weeded out their lists of employes that came in contact with the compulsory education law passed by the last legislature. At Winslow & Rau's bottle house five boys were discharged. The King City glass works discharged three lads who were under fourteen years of age. Wilson & McCulloch, although employing a large number of children, were obliged to discharge only six or seven. Some hardship and suffering may result at this factory. One widow had five boys working in the factory, who furnished all the means of living. Three of them were turned out.
