OWEN’S DAMAGE CASE.

Now up at Anderson — Large Number

of Witnesses.

The administrator of the Walter Owen estate some two years ago sued the C. C. C. & StL. Ry. for $10,000 damages for the death of Owens while walking along the tracks of the company in this city. The case has been pending in the courts ever since until today when it was called in the Madison county circuit court at Anderson, on a change of venue from this county.

The first interurban car south this morning was loaded with witnesses in this case.

It will be remembered that Owen was employed at teaser at Winslow & Rau's glass factory and not being at work one afternoon had started to the King City factory to watch the process of making insulators, a freight train was switching in the yards here and in making a "flying switch" the kicked off cars struck Owen and mangled him beyond recognition almost. He was placed on a litter and carried home but died before reaching there. Suit was at once instituted to recover damages and should it be successful it will not come amiss to the widow who was left with three small children in meager circumstances. The outcome will be watched with interest in this city.
