Ohio Bottlers' Convention

The 20th Annual Convention of the Ohio Bottlers’ Association, which was held at the Deshler-Wallich Hotel in Columbus, February 11 and 12, brought a record gathering.

The program follows:

1:00 P. M. — Address of Welcome by Hon. George White, Governor of Ohio, and by Hon. Harry W. Worley, Mayor of the City of Columbus.

Annual address by Frank A. Lynch, president of the Ohio Association.

Then followed addresses by Ralph Powers, of Chi­cago, on Sales Promition [sic] Promotion; by I. S. Guthery, director of State Department of Agriculture, and W. D. Leech, chief of the Food and Dairy Division.

T. P. Kearns, of the State Industrial Commission, spoke on the campaign for safety and hygiene in industry.

There were discussions between the addresses on matters of bottling trade interest.

Meeting adjourned at 5:30 P. M. to allow the bot­tlers to inspect the exhibits of the supply houses.

The annual banquet was held in the evening, fol­lowed by dancing.

 

Second Day’s Session

 

The meeting was opened by report of the secretary, followed by reports of the committees.

Then came an address by Carl A. Jones, of Bristol, Va., member of the executive board of the National Association. His subject was, "Organization in the Beverage Industry."

Two Coca-Cola bottlers, Earl Reeder, of Dayton, and James G. Watson, of Lima, O., talked on some of the practical problems of the bottlers, and both stressed the need of bottlers to produce quality beverages and to get a fair price for their goods.

At the afternoon session M. H. Nussbaum, of the Miller Manfg. Co., Bainbridge, Ga., spoke on sanita­tion in the bottling plant, and the very important part played by bottling, washing and cleaning equipment to prevent spoilage and loss.

After a general discussion the meeting adjourned at 2 o'clock.
