After struggling painfully along for some eighteen months the California Glass Works, at San Francisco, Cal., has at last yielded up the ghost. If abundant capital could have made the enterprise a success it should have been highly prosperous, but the fates were against it. The truth is the market for glassware is limited, and there is not enough to keep the old factory running to its full capacity. The chance for a second factory may therefore be imagined. The California Glass Works, after opening up, made an unsuccessful run and had to stop. It was started up again with liberal means, but had no better success than before. W e must have a larger market before we have room for more establishments of this kind.
