Glass Insulators
An improved Hemingray No. 1088 insulator used on Case transposition brackets is now available. The vertical hole through the insulator is now produced by a burn-off method which imparts greater strength to the glass, provides a fire-polished finish to the glass surface surrounding the top of the hole, and helps reduce line maintenance costs by reducing insulator breakage. This new design also offers a longer leakage path.
The 1088 insulator is fitted with a corrugated rubber bushing and revolves on the transposition bracket. The hole through the insulator makes the unique Case roller system possible and protects the carrier wire during stringing operations by eliminating abrasion between conductor and insulator.
The insulator is designed for use on Case crossarm or Case mid-span carrier circuit transpositions. It is manufactured by Kimble Glass Co., subsidiary of Owens-Illinois Glass Co., especially for use on Case transposition brackets. Write Transandean Associates, Dept. RSC, 301Main St., Orange, N.J.
