His Assailants Still Unknown.

JERSEY CITY, N. J., Nov. 22. - J. Homer Brooke, of 40 Linden Avenue, who was assaulted as he was leaving a New Jersey Central train at Danforth Avenue, last Saturday night, was much improved to-day, and will probably recover. Several sensational stories are in circulation about the case, but they are all denied by the family. One is that Mr. Brooke was assaulted by a demented son, but Mrs. Brooke said the young man was sent to St. Louis two weeks ago and is there still. The police have found several persons who witnessed the altercation between Mr. Brooke and his assailants on the train, and have secured a good description of the men, one of whom is said to be an Elizabeth lawyer, but neither his name nor that of his companion has yet been learned.
