NIAGARA POWER IN TORONTO — The bill introduced in the Ontario Legislature for the purpose of giving the City of Toronto the right to acquire and distribute electric power from Niagara Falls, has been shelved in committee. The opposition to the measure was based on the uncertainty of its effect on other towns and cities. It was therefore deemed advisable to defer action for a year in order to study the matter in all its bearings. According to our Canadian correspondent, it was feared that Toronto "would derive so much advantage from cheap electricity as to be in a position to draw industries from other communities and make the rest of the Province a desert."
