DIED.

At his residence in Kenton county, Ky., on Monday morning, 28th ult., after a protracted illness of dropsy, Maj. THORNTON TIMBERLAKE, in the 64th year of his age.

The subject of this notice was born in Caroline county, Va., in January, 1794. Removing in early life to the west, he located in Campbell county, Ky., and resided there, and in what was afterwards constituted Kenton county, for about forty years. Maj. TIMBERLAKE, as an intelligent, practical man, manifested a deep interest in the events which were transpiring around him, and which, during the period of his residence, have wrought such marvelous changes in the West. Declining rather that seeking office, he found life's highest enjoyment in dispensing neighborly kindnesses, and in the bosom of his devoted family. Of spotless integrity, true as a friend, and faithful in all the relations of life, the community, and especially all who enjoyed his acquaintance, morn the departure of a GOOD MAN. The closing scene was fitting to such a life. He passed away quietly, and at peace with all mankind.
