· · [Missing text] · · The following is a list of the large industries that are closed and the length of their closing: The American Sheet Steel mill, Midland, closed this morning and will resume operation Friday morning. The employees were paid in gold last night. Ball Brothers closed in all departments this morning and will remain closed until Friday morning. The Republic Iron and Steel works, Whitely Malleable Castings works, and Hemingray's factory, were closed this morning and will resume Friday morning. The Meeks Handle factory closed this morning; resumes Monday morning. The Indiana Bridge Company is closed for the day only. The Muncie Gas Engine & Supply Company will close for the day. Several of the employers presented their employees with turkeys. The employees of the Muncie Pulp Company are at work today. Owing to the rush of business the plant was not closed down for the day. However those on the night turn were out bright and early this morning, and are enjoying the fruits of the visit of St. Nicholas. |
