NOT MENTIONED

In the Coroner's Jury Verdict on Death of Carlotta

Campiglio — Mother Wrote to Make Inquiries

About Some Valuable Jewels.

(SPECIAL TELEGRAM.)

SAN FRANCISCO, December 4. - The coroner's inquest in the case of Miss Carlotta Steffins, who shot herself last Saturday, ended in a verdict of suicide, with no charge, criticism or remarks affecting Robert Hemingray, the girl's presumed husband. Hemingray and his brother were the principal witnesses. They retold the story of the shooting and denied that Robert had maltreated the girl. Robert also denied that he ever promised to marry her. He has been ruled off the track of the California Jockey club and the police and newspapers have learned that he has had several affairs of the kind he had with Miss Steffins. The girl's body was shipped to relatives in Cincinnati December 1.

It is thought that the body of the deceased will reach Cincinnati next Sunday or Monday. The remains will be buried and not cremated, as was at first intended. R. R. Goodridge, grandfather of the deceased, reached this city Wednesday and will remain until after the funeral services before he

RETURNS TO THE EAST. Mrs. Campiglio will also go the New York after she buries her daughter, and will take her 5-year old daughter with her. The remains of Carlotta Campiglio will be interred in Woodlawn cemetery, New York. Mrs. Campiglio will remain in the East for a protracted stay and will then return to this city and resume her position as soprano at St. Paul's M. E. church. Mrs. Campiglio has written to the San Francisco authorities and asked them to search for the diamonds and other jewels that belonged to the deceased and about which the mother has heard nothing.
