While the glass blowers were taking their annual vacation this year many improvements were made in the Hemingray glass factory. Heretofore the factory was called, in the language of glass men, a "green house" making only bottles, but new machinery, moulds, etc., have been placed in position and it now sails under the name of a flint house, making all kinds of fancy lamps in different colors. In connection, the machine shops have, in the last three weeks, all been moved here from Covington, Ky., employing a large number of skilled workmen and bringing more people to Muncie. The shops are as complete as it is possible to make them and the entire business is simply to make machinery and moulds for the glass factory. Mr. James Gill, of Covington, Ky., is the manager and foreman of the foundry and kindly showed us through, explaining the uses of the different machines. In addition to the improvements in the factory and foundry, a cooper shop has been added where they will make their own barrels for shipping purposes.
