Muncie Man Named General

Factories Manager.

Appointment of W. P. Zimmerman, manager of the Owens-Illinois plant here, to a newly created position of general factories manager of the industrial and structural products division of Owens-Illinois Glass Company, and several other changes in the management affecting the Muncie plant will become effective April 15, it was announced Monday.

Included in the industrial and structural products division are the manufacture and sale of glass block and Hemingray insulators produced at Muncie, and an extensive line of glass wool and fiber glass products made at the Newark, Ohio, plant. The unusually rapid growth of business in these fields, which Owens-Illinois has pioneered, makes the broadened organization setup advisable, the announcement stated.

Others Are Named.

In his new position Mr. Zimmerman will have general supervision at both plants.

A separate department, prompted by recently improved products and increased volume in the insulator field, is also being set up to concentrate on the development of the glass insulator business.

M. K. Holmes, who is appointed manager of the insulator department, will be in charge of all development and sales operations and responsible for coordinating these with manufacturing in the insulator line.

Carl H. Smith, present head of the service department is appointed manager of the Muncie plant in charge of all production and service operations carried on in the plant.

John E. Bauer will succeed Mr. Smith as head of the service department of the local plant.

Malcolm Louden will be plant engineer and Donald Bridges is appointed development engineer.
