George W. Foster dies, he built the New Granite Glass Works

Mr. George W. Foster, who died February 8th in Charlestown, Mass., was in the glass business all his life, and was well known to merchants throughout New England. He was born at East Cambridge, his father Joseph Foster, an Englishman, building the first bottle house in that city. He built the New Granite Glass Works at Stoddard, N.H., in 1860, and shipped these goods to the Boston market. Later he went to Boston, and started in the same trade at 106 State street, and removed in 1866 to 14 Blackstone street. He was a member of the Boston Lodge, I.O.O.F., and Yonoto Tribe, I.O.R.M. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure. He was sixty-two years old. He leaves a widow, three sons and one daughter.
