Mr. Joseph Ramsey, Sr., who died recently in Dayton, O., began 1n 1852 the operation of the first plant in the city of Louisville as a member of the firm of Stenger & Co. After several years in this connection he accepted the position of manager for Hemingray Bros., in Covington, leaving them in 1865 to engage with the Ihmsen glass works, in Pittsburgh, as superintendent. Mr. Ihmsen was his uncle.
