MEMORIAL DAY AT MUNCIE. Joint Celebration is Planned — Members of L. U. No. 2 Are Making Elaborate Arrangements — Will be a Notable Affair. Muncie, Ind., May 3. — All glass factories in this city and also in Matthews, Ind., are running to their full capacity. The gas belt appears to be in a flourishing condition. Local workers will observe Glassworkers Memorial Day on Sunday, May 14. The members of L. U. No. 2, A. F. G. W. U., at a special meeting voted to observe the day and all labor unions in Muncie will do the same within the next two weeks. All the workers in the Hemingray plant and Ball Bros., green, white liner, and flint department will turn out in a body and perhaps visiting glassworkers from Matthews and Alexandria will take part. This will be the first observance of Glassworkers Memorial Day in Muncie, and every effort will be made to make it one of the grandest affairs ever held in the city. It is to be hoped that every glassworker in Muncie and vicinity will remember the day and arrange to take part. There will be good music and good speaking. Thomas Carroll has returned to work at Hemingray's after a long spell of sickness. — George Werline has accepted a place pressing at Hemingray's. — James and John Ebenwalter have left Hemingray's. — John Buckley and James St. John are new arrivals at Ball Bros. No. 2 factory. All the glass factories at Matthews are running full for the first time in four years. — Muncie is certainly a dry town on Sundays. The new law is making the boys stock up on Saturdays or do without the beverage that cheers. R. C. Henderson, John Henderson, Elmer Hensell, Ed Bond, and James Donahue, of Marion, visited friends here last Sunday. — Flint. |
