BROOKLYN WORKERS ENTERTAINED.

Initiation is followed by a Banquet and an Enjoyable Social Session.

Brooklyn, N.Y., March 24. - At the last regular meeting Branch No. 52 increased its membership by adding Michael Brendel and George Moser to the roster, their term of apprenticeship having expired. After going through the third degree, and a good many others, both proved themselves eligible to become full fledged G.B.B.A. members. After the meeting adjourned our two new members were hosts and invited all of the members into the reception hall where tables were set for all and fit for a king. The hall was tastefully decorated with palms and ferns.

After all had partaken a fine lunch, Frank S. Tomlin delivered an interesting address and gave some good advice to the newly elected members. Then came the surprise of the evening, for a fine theatrical program had been arranged, in which some of our own members participated, for let it be known that this Branch can boast of some excellent talent.

Adam Huether delighted all with his clever dancing of the sailor's hornpipe; Matthew Johnson was also there with a fine line of impersonations of the leading thespians of the day. - Jos. Beggy received a great ovation for the able manner in which he rendered a beautiful selection from Italian opera, although we did not understand a word. Frank Reichman was a sure cure for the blues and contributed a song and dance in his own inimitable way.

Next came a burlesque wrestling match in which Louis Hartman and Nick Brendel were the principals. After mauling and tearing another around the mat for 15 minutes the bout had to be stopped, as both of them became hungry and tried to feed on each others anatomy. Then came the event of the evening, a four round bout between Kid Gill and Cyclone Pete at catchweights. After the bout it was decided that Cyclone Pete gained the decision, for he blocked every blow with his face. So, of course, the latter got the decision amid vociferous applause.

The continuous round of gayety lasted until the wee small hours when every one departed for his domicile, tired but happy. Here's good health and best wishes to the new members of Branch No. 52 - Gotham.
