FROM THE CITY OF CHURCHES.

Brooklyn, May 18. - At the Brookfield Glass Co.'s plant the same brisk business prevails and no doubt will continue until the end of the season.

Robert Miller has been selected to represent our Branch at the Atlantic City convention. He is a firm and conscientious men with the welfare of our Branch and association at heart.

Again we note that love's messenger, Cupid, is still busy in our ranks and has trapped Geo. Moser, adding his name to the long matrimonial roster. Our best wishes are for the brother to have a prosperous and happy voyage through life.

At Brooklyn Labor Lyceum last Saturday evening the Union Label League opened their fair with a large attendance. The fair will be in progress until May 22, and it can truthfully be said that this years fair will eclipse those held in the past. The proceeds are to be donated to the tuberculosis sanitarium, which is being erected on Long Island and maintained by the Brooklyn Central Union, and all the locals associated with said body.

All organized workmen are jubilant over the way the employers' compensation and liabilities act went through both the senate and assembly by an overwhelming majority, and now it only awaits the signature of Gov. Hughes to become a law, and as the governor has been in favor of such a law, there is no danger of him failing to sign the bill. Let it be said that the central body deserves due credit for the energy put forth in bringing this important bill, which means so much to the laboring class to a successful conclusion. - Gotham.
