BIG IMPROVEMENT PLANNED. Approximately $35,000 is to be spent by the H. C. Fry Glass Co., Rochester, Pa., in improvements and additions to the plants of the Beaver Valley Glass Co. and the H. C. Fry Glass Co. When completed the additional buildings will require the company to increase the working force to more than 1,000. A plot of ground on which will be erected a modern three-story brick office building has been staked off at the Fry plant which will house the entire electrical force, will contain a sample room and rooms for special displays. The building will cost approximately $20,000. It is thought the new office will be completed by fall. The building will be 40 x 80 feet, finished in latest fireproof style. It will replace the structure now in use. The latter will be removed, remodeled and used for storage purposes. Workmen have started to lay foundations for two wings of the Beaver Valley Glass Co., each 30 x 100 feet. One will be used as a cutting shop and the other for the etching department. The approximate cost will be $15,000. Both structures will be brick. Officials of the Fry company state that the additions will be finished as soon as possible and that more than 1,000 workmen will be given employment when the work is completed. |
