Flint glass works were established in San Francisco last year, and the manufacture of higher grades of glassware is being conducted. It is a new venture, and the works have been in operation so short a time that it is too early to speak of their success. Like all young industries, it has to meet severe competition, but as the local conditions are claimed to be favorable, the projectors harbor great hope of achieving a decided success. The manufacture of common glassware is well established and has been vigorously prosecuted. It has yielded a fair profit and has found a growing demand for its productions.
