SAN FRANCISCO.

The San Francisco and Pacific Glass Works are to have a competitor shortly in a new green glass factory which is about to be located here. Mr. Davis, formerly connected with the O'Hara Glass Works, of Pittsburgh, is the chief projector of the new concern, and he intends to manufacture a line of fruit jars, green and amber bottles, and other articles of green glassware. Hitherto the first named establishment has had no rival on the Pacific coast, and on account of the remarkable growth of the wine-making industry the demand for bottles here is very great. It may be noted that the chief proprietors of both concerns, Messrs. Newman and Davis, are Pittsburgh men, and were connected with the glass industry for many years in the Iron City.
