GLASS WORKS START
UP WITH UNION MEN
The Western Glass Manufacturing company has reopened for the autumn and winter season, but, contrary to expectations, only union men have been given employment.
When the works closed down last season it became generally known that an effort would be made to reorganize the working force with non-union men and a full corps of glass blowers arrived here from the East ready to go to work.
The matters in dispute have been amicably settled by a conference between Harry Jenkins, executive office of the Glass Blowers' association, who came on here from Alton, Ill., and the officials of the company. The wage scale remains the same as heretofore.
