The Western Flint Bottle Association held a meeting at Chicago on December 9, and a large delegation from this city and neighborhood attended. Wheeling, Bellaire, Covington, Zanesville, Ottawa, Illinois, and St. Louis were also represented. Among the questions considered was the one of freight classification referred to in last week's JOURNAL. At present flint bottles are shipped as third and fourth class freight, and the meeting decided that hereafter the classification should be changed so as to put their product in the fourth and fifth classes. Production was not interfered with, each manufacturer being allowed to suit himself in this regard. There are now twenty flint bottle factories in operation west of the Alleghenies.
