Surveying of railroad switches serving Hemingray started

Mr. J. J. Leonard, of the surveying party operating at this point, was a caller at the TIMES office this morning. He informs us that the construction of the switches and spurs to the Pulp Works, the Muncie Rubber Works, the Hemingray glass works and the Taggart Mills will be pushed as fast as the weather will possibly permit. The original survey was deviated from to accommodate the Taggart Flouring Mills. Mr. Leonard says that the surveying party commenced the work yesterday but were compelled to suspend operations owing to the ground being frozen so hard. They used a ten-pound sledge hammer to drive an iron rod down, but it was soon seen that wooden stakes put into the ground under such conditions could not be relied on when a thaw should come.
