Mrs. Davis's Dinner.
As elaborate a dinner party as has been given recently in Muncie was that of Mrs. Charles Strout Davis of East Washington street, last evening for her cousin, Miss Mayme Johnson whose marriage to Karl A. Oosterle will be celebrated June 26. Originality was displayed in the decorative effects and in the luncheon. The place cards were hand-painted. The card for the men guests represented a bridal trunk. On this trunk were displayed old shoes, white ribbons, an old teapot and the inscription, "We’re just married." The place cards for the women contained three little yellow chicks, one a bride with a veil modestly obscuring her countenance and by her side the bridegroom while facing them was the clergyman chick in the act of reading the wedding service.
The color effects were yellow, white and green, the June bride colors. The large center table was adorned with an enormous French basket done in yellow and green and massed with yellow bride’s roses, marguerites and feathery ferns, while southern smilax was twined around the handle which was veiled with yellow tulle. Smaller tables were placed in the spacious dining room and these were decorated with small French baskets filled with bride’s flowers, still carrying out the colors, yellow, green and white.
The dinner which was in seven courses was served at 6 o’clock, a pretty feature of which was the ice cream molded in the shape of wedding bells and lady slippers.
The favors given were bonbon boxes. These were in the form of potted plants with flowers of yellow, buds and roses.
The guests were Misses Mayme Johnson, Madge Mitchell, of Lima, O., guest of Mrs. Davis, Evelyn Oesterle, Reba Koons, Janet Turner, Lewellyn Hemingray, Miss Cranston, of Chicago; Harriet Johnson; Messrs. Karl Oesterle, Robert Williams, Carl Waelder, Lon Bracken, Oliver Raymond, Harry Almy, Ward Hubbard, Eugene Oesterle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kimbrough, Mr. and Mrs. Will Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kimbrough.
