A WRESTLING CONTEST.

An Exhibition of the Sport in Muncie

Yesterday.

"Tommie" Doring of Covington, Ky., and Charles Emerson, of Clyde, N. Y., are two athletes employed at the Hemingray glass works. Both have made more than local reputation as wrestlers. A few day's since a wager of $25 a side was made for a match of two best out three falls was arranged to take place at Henry Moles' place, corner Merriweather and Macedonia avenues, beginning at noon yesterday. About fifty friends of the principals were present and witnessed the contest.

The first bout was catch-as-catch-can and resulted in a victory for Emerson after quite a struggle.

The second bout was collar and elbow. Doring showed up the strongest and won the bout after some very cunning work. He lay flat on the floor for some time, then got his hold and forced Emerson's shoulders to the carpet. Once during the bout Emerson had one of Doring's shoulders on the carpet but a neck bridge saved him.

The third bout was at "Lockholt's." The men exerted their strength until both were tired out and the match was declared a draw by referee Corney, of Central City, Virginia.
