At about 9:30 o'clock on the morning of June 18, 1892, a general alarm of fire was sounded and on investigation it was discovered that the C. H. Over window glass works was on fire. The factory was outside of the fire limits and before effectual aid could be rendered was entirely consumed.

The Hemingray glass works which stood near the Over plant caught fire from the burning buildings and it too was destroyed.

At the time the fire started a Lake Erie & Western switching crew was at work on a track on the south side of the Over factory near the building. It was claimed that a spark from the engine ignited some straw in a store room near the track setting fire to the buildings, resulting in nearly 0,000 worth of property being destroyed.

Mr. Over's loss was estimated at ,225.95. About fifteen insurance companies were involved in the loss and paid Mr. Over about ,000, the full amount of his insurance.

Suit will be filed at the September term of the Delaware Circuit Court, asking damages from the Lake Erie & Western Ry. Co. in the sum of ,225.95. The plaintiffs are C. H. Over, British American Insurance Company, Hamburg Bremen Insurance Company, Imperial Fire Insurance Company, Indiana Insurance Company, Indiana Underwriters' Insurance Company, Lancashire Insurance Company, Manchester Fire Assurance Company, Michigan Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Niagara Fire Insurance Company, North British and Mercantile Insurance Company, Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Scottish Union and National Insurance Company, Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company, State Investment and Insurance Company, Sun Insurance Company, Traders Insurance Company, and the Western Assurance Company.
