THOUSANDS PAID OUT

TO THE TOILERS IN MUNCIE FACTORIES

FOR LAST WEEK.

Indiana Iron Company Heads the List

With $12,000 — Nearly all Muncie

Industries now at Work.

With the exception of the Port and Nelson glass factories, all of Muncie's big manufacturing concerns are once more being operated and a majority of them on full time. Some of them pay semi-monthly and did not pay their employees last Saturday but many others did and as a result a very large amount of money was paid out for labor Saturday evening.

The Indiana Iron company heads the list having paid their laborers $12,000 for work during the past two weeks. This is not a fair estimate, as the mill was not fully operated all the time.

The Midland steel company paid out $7,500 besides $200 for work on the new furnace being erected.

The Whiteley Malleable Castings Company paid out $3,100 for last week's work and are increasing steadily.

This is pay day at Ball Bros., and over $4,000 is being distributed for the past two weeks' work.

Maring - Hart & Co. paid $2,300 for week's labor and the men employed at the Over glass works earn about $2,000 per week.

The Asphalt Paving Company paid out $2,000 for last week's work on the streets. Mock & Baker, who crush the stone used, paid out an additional 0.

The Common Sense Engine Company paid out $1,800 for last week's work, and the rivet factory, Shoe factory, Handle factory, and Heat, Light & Power Company paid out the same amount.

The Hemingray Glass Company paid $1,200 for the same time.

The White River Iron and Steel Company paid out $1,000 for last week's labor; the Muncie Muck Bar Company, $1,000.

The weekly pay roll of the Muncie Flint Glass Company is about $3,000. It was not regular pay day there Saturday but the boys employed received $500.

The Pulp Company, not fully at work, paid $400; Magic Canning factory, $800; Indiana Bridge Company $600; Bell Stove works, $400; J. H. Smith & Co., $300; Muncie Wheel Company, $600; Muncie Iron and Steel Company, $600; A. L. Johnson & Co., $300; Muncie Iron Company, $125; McKendry Heading factory, $100; B. W. Bennett brick yard, $200; Hubbel Sulky Harrow Company, $150; Viguier Washing Machine Company [dollar:$100; Gorman Butter Dish factory$150; J. M. Moody & Son $100; Nelson & Miller planing mill $100; Reed Box factory $100; Muncie Foundry & machine shop $300; John Moore, assisting in street paving work, $200. There are several other concerns that paid out large sums on Saturday and others that do not pay until this week. This makes $50,325 paid out in wages for a week that is not an average. The glass factories do not pay in full until the close of the season. They get each week a sum known as "market money" but a majority of them only draw a small weekly allowance until the close of the season when full settlement is made.
